What is Master’s Commission?
Master’s Commission is an intense 9 month college discipleship program for young adults, 18-25. For 9 months, you will be involved in ministry, serving those in need, and spending time in intense prayer and worship. MC is not only for people who want to go into full time ministry; it’s for those that already have a relationship with Jesus Christ, and want to establish a firm foundation in Him. Through worship, prayer, service, and ministry, you will be prepared for wherever God wants to take you in life. MC is about giving a year to God, and He will change you for a life time.

Is MC only for those going in full time ministry?
No. MC is for anyone who has a relationship with Jesus Christ and wants to go deeper in their walk with Him.

So, what is the purpose of Master’s Commission?
One simple thing: “To know Him and make Him known.” Our desire is to create an atmosphere where you will come in and meet Jesus, grow closer to Him, and become more like Him. Then, go out and spread the love of Christ to everyone you meet.

What makes GZMC unique?
GZMC is very aggressive and intense. You will constantly be on the go. Everyday you will be eating, sleeping and breathing ministry. At GZMC, you will have every opportunity to be stretched, not only in your personal relationship with the Lord, but in your spiritual gifts, talents and abilities. Our heart is for you to develop that which God has placed inside you by experiencing various areas of ministry. You will have the opportunity to invest in the lives of teenagers, develop new dramas, be part of a worship team, create multi-media projects, design web sites, and explore other areas of ministry. Through mission trips, outreaches with inner city kids, homeless shelter ministry and reaching out to others in need, you will be able to see God at work in you. God is doing incredible things in your generation. GZMC exists to help you build a foundation on Christ. When you commit to follow Him with your whole heart, you will begin to experience all that He has for you. You were created for such a time as this.

What about housing and meals?
During the 9 months at GZMC, you will be staying with a host family from the church or within one of our discipleship houses. Families in the church have prayerfully considered opening their home to you during your time with us. Meals will be provided by your host family. If you are placed within a discipleship house, GZMC will cover the cost of your meals. GZMC will also cover meals on ministry trips.

What will a typical day look like?
GZMC generally keeps a very active schedule. Every morning, you will spend time in prayer, devotion, and worship. Afterwards, you will either have a few hours of college corses. After lunch, you will be involved in some sort of hands on ministry. You could be visiting kids from your small groups, visiting a homeless shelter, or a nursing home. You could be doing administrative work in the office, working on a new song for worship, developing new dramas, or any other number of ministry opportunities. Saturdays and Mondays are your days off, unless we have an event scheduled.

What ministries will I be involved with?
You will be involved in a number of different ministries while at GZMC. See the Student Life section for a break down of some of the ministries you will be involved with.

Will I be able to be involved in the ministries I am interested in?
Our heart is to see you develop the gifts God has given you, in the area that you feel most called to. You will be exposed to a wide range of ministries, and will have the freedom to focus on one specific area of ministry. Everyone at GZMC will have a general schedule that they will follow. Morning prayer, devotion, worship, schooling, etc… but time will be set apart each week for you to explore the area of ministry you are most interested in.

Can I earn college credits while in MC?
Students will be taking classes through Chesapeake Bible College & Seminary. You will be working towards earning a Diploma of Biblical Studies. Students earn a total of 36 college credits. If a student comes back for a second and third year, they will be able to earn an Associates degree or Bachelors degree. Students will be earning college credits that transfer to most colleges. Colleges don’t have to accept credits from other schools, so its best to find out there policy on transferring credits. If you have already earned college credits, you can have your transcripts sent to us. We can apply them to your Diploma of Biblical Studies.

How much does it cost?
The tuition for GZMC is $6,700. Go to the Costs/Contact  section for a break down of tuition.

When does the program begin and end? Are there any breaks?
GZMC begins on September 1st, 2012 and will end on May 26th, 2013. There will be breaks at Thanksgiving and at Christmas.

What do I do after GZMC?
After your first year of GZMC, the options are endless. If you are thinking about going into full time ministry or have a desire to deepen your walk with Christ even more, we strongly suggest applying for a second year at GZMC. You can also go onto any college or into full-time work. No matter where you go, your feet will firmly be planted on the Rock, Jesus Christ.

No, GZMC is a 24/7 commitment, and there is just no time for outside employment. We run a very busy schedule. You will be traveling a lot and involved in several different ministies.

What is God's will for my life?
Perspective students often call our offices asking how they can know for sure that God has called them to Master's Commission. Our staff speaks with High School Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors each month at conventions who are trying to answer the question, "What is the meaning of life?" or "How do I know what God wants me to do?" or "What is my purpose? What is my destiny?" The answer is simplier than you think... and it involves silence. We live in a very noisy world. Elijah was in a cave and we're told that a terrible wind passed, but God was not in the wind. A great earthquake shook the mountain, but God is not in the earthquake. Then a fire passes the mountain, but God was not in the fire. Then a "still small voice" comes to Elijah. The answers to all of those questions can be found in the still small voice. God is speaking to each of us every day, but often times our brains are too cluttered, our worlds too noisy, and our ears too out of tune to recognize the answers when they come. Try taking 5 minutes everyday to read a passage from scripture and think about God. Then take another 5 minutes, sit in silence, tell God you are listening, and then wait. As you practice tuning out the world, you'll slowly start to hear God's voice. It may take a day or two... it might take a month, but stick with it. God is speaking. We just need to learn how to listen.

How will Master's Commission help me to hear God's Voice?
Groundzero Master's Commission spend an hour in worship, prayer, and devotions every morning, from 9am to 10am. This is a powerful time for our students where they get into God's word, stand to their feet and lift their hands in praise, thank their Lord for His goodness in their lives and seek His face and His plan for their future. By the end of the nine months, you will have spent about 175 hours talking with God during this time each morning. Most all of our students have finished the nine months with a direction for where they were to head next. You can have this same direction. Join us for 9 months and we'll help you pursue your relationship with Christ.

I have more questions!
Go to the Costs/Contact page and either call or email us. We are more than willing to answer any questions you may have!
