No Dating
GZMC definition of dating: Having a romantic interest in a
person of the opposite gender and cultivating that interest
through thoughts, looks, notes, talks, phone conversations,
photographs/keepsakes, and events.
The purpose
of MC is to give 9 months of your life completely to Jesus
Christ, and
allow Him to build your foundation. In order to do that,
there can be no distractions in your life. It is hard to give
one’s heart fully to God if it belongs to another person.
Everyone in the GZMC program knows that everyone is there for
one purpose: to pursue Christ. With the pressures of dating
gone, you are free to relax and allow God to be your only
focus.
If you are
in a relationship when entering into GZMC, it will have to be
put on hold and be non-existent till you leave. If it is
God’s will for you to be with that person, 9 months will not
change that.
We also ask
that you refrain from long periods of time with members of the
opposite sex during the 9 months you are at GZMC, including
other MC members. This includes long private talks, phone
calls, Bible studies, etc., with someone of the opposite sex.
(Even if it’s in the name of “ministry” or “talking about
God”). If you need to talk to someone, the MC staff, church
staff, or another member of GZMC of the same sex will be more
than willing to talk with you.
Spiritual
Preparedness
GZMC is for students with a serious hunger and thirst for
God. It is for students who
have already committed their lives to God, and want to seek
His will. The Bible says that people will be
able to see the fruit in your life, and that is what we look
for. We ask for references from pastors, parents, and friends
to get a background of your Christian walk. We ask that you
be at least 6 months in your walk with Christ when you
apply.
Finances
Students must have tuition paid on the first day of
GZMC. Students will be given an allowance of $20 a week for personal
expenses. Any additional money needed will be the responsibility of
the student. We also suggest that the student not have any outstanding
debts. You will not be able to have outside employment, so it will be
very difficult to pay bills during the time you are at GZMC.
A Working Car With Car Insurance and License
At GZMC,
you will constantly be on the go. Everyday you will be
involved in various ministries in the area. You may not
always be with other MC students or staff, so a working car
and insurance is very important. We understand that not everyone can have a car. If this is an issue, please contact the GZMC staff and we will work something out with you.
Health Insurance
You will
need to show proof that you will have health insurance during
your time at
GZMC; this includes any mission trips outside of the country.
GZMC is not liable for any medical problems that come up
during the 9 months that you are with us. If you are unable to obtain health insurance, a wavier releasing GZMC, the church, and your home openers from any liability can be signed. Any emergency that does arise, will be financially your responsbility.
No Outside Employment
The GZMC
schedule is intense and will take up a majority of your time.
There is no room for a part time job.
Passport
Every
student will go on at least one mission trip during the 9
months you are at GZMC. A passport is required for all over
seas mission trips.
